Pine Tree Annual Western Show 2011

The second day of the Pine Tree Annual Show is focused on Western disciplines.  In the first classes showmanship, the horses are so nicely groomed and led in without tack.

The riders all look so nice in their colourful shirts and blingy (that is a word right?) tack. In addition to normal riding classes, the western day is ended with the very exciting and fun to shoot western games. It is amazing to see some of these horses that calmly trot and lope around in their classes show their alter ego barrel racing selves galloping as fast as they can to the finish line!

I was told that there are horses that can tell by how the arena is set up what is going to happen and change their attitude accordingly. If they see nothing it’s a flat class, jumps mean jumping obviously and barrels mean GO AS FAST AS YOU CAN YIPPIE!!!! The horses that have been doing it for a while know the barrel pattern and the only thing the rider is required to do is hang on and stay on!

Pole bending.

Another free range pony.

Everyone came out to watch.
